Ald. McBride Announces Re-election Bid for 4th District Seat
Attorney will seek second term serving neighborhoods in southeast section of Tosa.
Dennis R. McBride announced Tuesday that he had submitted nomination papers to run for re-election as 4th District alderman.
McBride, who is completing his first term, was elected in April 2008. He has served on the Common Council’s Budget and Finance Committee, Community Development Committee and Traffic and Safety Committee, of which he is vice chairman.
McBride also serves as the aldermanic liaison to the City’s Historic Preservation Commission. Before his election to the Common Council, he served for 15 years on the City’s Civil Service Commission. While serving as alderman, he has been a member of the board of Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool.
McBride graduated from Wauwatosa East High School and holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (B.A., journalism), Princeton University (master’s in public administration) and New York University (law). He is married and has three children, and has worked as a lawyer for more than 30 years. He is a member of the UWM Athletic Hall of Fame.
McBride's is among eight aldermanic seats up for election on April 3. If three or more candidates should file for any one seat, the field will be cut to two in a Feb. 21 primary.
McBride said that he would not at present be endorsing a candidate for mayor but will review the candidates’ positions and credentials as the campaign develops. He urged candidates to remember that the city’s elected positions are nonpartisan and that their duty is to serve the city’s best interests without regard to political affiliation or belief.
