Celebrate This Week by Quaffing a Craft Beer and Blogging
Patch launches the Tosa Beer Club Blog as we raise a glass to small, friendly brewers.
I’m writing this while drinking a beer. Shocking, I know. I’m not drinking just any beer though, I’m drinking a craft beer.
What is craft beer? According to the Brewer’s Association, it is beer from a brewer that is small, independent and traditional. And this week is American Craft Beer Week, so all the more reason to drink a tasty craft beer. (In case you are wondering, I am drinking Stranger by Left Hand Brewing Company and give it two thumbs up).
American Craft Beer Week was launched in 2006 by the Brewer’s Association, and this year, for the first time, all 50 states hosted events in celebration of craft brewers. Tomorrow’s events in Wisconsin include a live craft beer show from The Full BBL at Erv’s Mug in Oak Creek, Point Brewery will be offering a free bratwurst after their tours, and there will be a hopyard spring training at the new Simple Earth Hops in Dodgeville.
Another awesome thing that is going on for American Craft Beer Week is that breweries and brewpubs around Wisconsin are hosting “Guest Taps.” How cool is it that this week Sprecher Brewery is hosting Capital Brewery Blonde Dopplebock and Milwaukee Brewing Saison? And this is going on in breweries all over the state. This friendliness and fellowship is unique to the craft beer industry in my opinion and is something to be celebrated!
I wrote about my first experience drinking craft beer for the Twitter beerclub blog. Every Monday evening commencing at 8 p.m., and lasting approximately an hour, many of us tweeps gather via Twitter for beerclub. We dedicate for our #BeerClub conversation to a pre-determined beer of the week.
This has been a wonderful way for me to enjoy and be introduced to many different craft beers (and people too!). My friend Mitch, the beer lord of beerclub, has been kind enough to let me babble about beer on the Twitter beerclub blog.
To further my interests in craft beer, I will be administrating a beer blog right here on the Tosa Patch! We're calling it Tosa Beer Club, and this blog is open to anyone who wants to write about beer, and everyone is welcome to comment.
I will get it started at – oh, shall we say about 5 o'clock Friday? When you decide you're ready to write your own blog post, just e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
I can’t wait to read all of the great beer discussions we are going to have!
