Their union was. The teachers pension is just fine unlike your 401K. They also pay much less for their healthcare than you do and had better plans that overcharged for similar services. I wouldn't worry about the Teachers, Walker saved them from being laid off in masses.

Teachers are NOT the problem. Its their union, which has thrown the young good teachers under the bus in the name of preserving benefits for the ones with seniority. When I grew up teachers did not have a union, and they taught me to think for myself. Nowadays, teachers themselves cannot think, they let the fat cat union bosses do their thinking for them.

@MrsPeel... Each community in the MMSD owns/controls its own sewer system. Milwaukee and Shorewood have storm sewer pipes connected to the sanitary sewer. These 'combined sewers' are nearly the entire cause of sewage dumping. Separating them will end the problem of outflow into the lake;no sewage treatment plant needed. So, the city of Milwaukee(not MMSD member communities), bare about 85% of the cost to fix the sewage dumping burden that they foist upon the entire MMSD system. FYI: MMSD dumps untreated sewage, on average, about six times per year.

Actually little ol' Art scared the bejeezus out of them because they believed all their propaganda about the Dems cross party voting so they came out in droves to make sure there wasn't a fluke upset. Governor wanted to pit citizens of Wisconsin against each other to destroy union presence

Newly released footage from a documentary film shows Gov. Scott Walker (way back in his first month of office) making small talk with one of his billionaire donors over how to deal with unions, weeks before introducing his budget repair bill that removed bargaining rights for state workers.

Walker makes his strategy clear:

"We're going to start in a couple weeks with our budget adjustment bill," Walker said when a campaign donor asked him how he would turn the state red. "The first step is, we're going to deal with collective bargaining for all public employee unions [and] use divide and conquer."

Emphasis added.

It's clear now that compromise was never a policy of the Walker administration. The governor had planned to remove public workers' rights for some time, even though he had never campaigned on it, and make Wisconsin a "right to work (for less)" state afterwards....

Take two steps back for changing the subject.

The fact is that Barrett cancelled his scheduled appearance at his own party's unity rally at the last minute and opted for tea with some of his more refined buddies in his yard. All that was to avoid being seen on camera with the Madison feet on the ground.

I can tell you that we REALLY wanted to see him with those people in Madison, and he knew it. He knew better.
