End of the World, or Just End of the Party?

Incense, a xylophone, a Mayan calendar — and beer cans. Sounds like something different than the usual party to lead off our weekly weird crime roundup, OMG PD.

If you think nothing interesting ever happens in the burbs, think again. Patch is highlighting some of the more unusual crime news from throughout southeastern Wisconsin in our feature, "OMG PD."

Problem, uh, solved

Either someone tried to stave off the end of the world with an odd ritual, or garage sale swept up on a Fox Point beach.

Necessity, not luxury

Here’s why all police cruisers should have leather seats — or Scotchgard.

Fists of convenience

You don’t need a permit to carry the best weapons of all.

Here’s some paradigm breaking for you

When the place you hang out to party has a receptionist, something is either very awesome or very wrong.

Scrooge vs. Grinch

I’ll see your stolen Christmas decorations and raise you with selling stolen Christmas decorations.

The Mayan calendar says the world will end after 2012. Somehow they knew Obama would win a second term.

Had the Mayans taken leap years into consideration, the world would have ended over four years ago.

I guess all Keith's comparisons to Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro didn't work. And judging by all his latest comments the GOP still doesn't understand that hate has a limited audience.

Survive 2012!!

http://www.howtosurvive2012.com/htm_night/home.htm

According to some the Planet alignments will cause the sun top have a major Carrington Event and the Earth's magnetic poles will flip and the Earth stop, then begin to rotate counterclockwise. Earthquakes, Tsunami's and nuclear meltdowns will kill most of humanity. NOW - The connection between planetary alignments and earthquakes/solar storms seems credible - but will it be as drastic as Patrick Geryl believes? We will find out soon!

On September 1–2, 1859, the largest recorded geomagnetic storm occurred. Aurorae were seen around the world, even over the Caribbean; those over the Rocky Mountains were so bright that their glow awoke gold miners, who began preparing breakfast because they thought it was morning.[3] People who happened to be awake in the northeastern US could read a newspaper by the aurora's light.[4]

Telegraph systems all over Europe and North America failed, in some cases shocking telegraph operators.[5] Telegraph pylons threw sparks and telegraph paper spontaneously caught fire.[6] Some telegraph systems continued to send and receive messages despite having been disconnected from their power supplies.

From Patrick Geryl's predictions above - we can see that in his prediction for a Magnitude 7 Earthquake on Dec. 11 with the cause being the December 10-13 Opposition of Uranus - Mercury across the Sun - another probable hit on his predictions. USGS time is given in Coordinated Universal Time - It's the 11th. somewhere on Earth.

So when are going to have the next earthquake along the fault line that runs near Chicago? The little one a few years ago was the only time I remember feeling an actual earthquake in Wauwatosa. I thought I vaguely remembered hearing that major quakes along that line are thought to occur once every century or two.

The Mayan calendar did not have leap years as our more superior calendar does. Their 2012 has already passed.

The Mayans did not predict a doomsday event. It was a 26,000 year cycle that they laid out on the calendar for Winter solstice. The calendar ends because there is no reason to continue a cyclical calendar beyond the cycle.
One of the myths out there is all planets will be lined up causing great stress on the earth. This is not true, the planets are not going to be in a straight line.
Regarding sun spots, solar flares, and coronal mass ejections: This is a typical 11 year cyclic event of solar maximum and solar minimum. Because we are in the Solar maximum phase, it is possible for some problems to arise. Power failures like the one which hit Canada during the last solar maximum are a possibility. Mainly we have a concern over satellite damage.
The doomsday event from a CME requires the Earth's magnetic field be in a weak state (in the process of polar shift). The chances of a polar shift occurring during a CME are a longshot. You would have better luck winning the lottery and getting struck by lightening at the same time!

It's true - not all the Planets will be lined up. However, some will. There is an apparent connection between Planet conjunctions and oppositions that are related to Solar Flares and Earthquakes. A very strong correlation.

On Dec. 21st. the following occurs:

"The constellations Perseus and Cassiopeia are nearly overhead and are easy to see, even from the city. If you haven't tried to find the asteroids Ceres and Vesta yet, they're at their best this month, too. And they're easy to find near Jupiter. All three objects reach opposition in December, when they're best for viewing.

Mercury, Venus and Saturn line up in the predawn sky from the 9th through the 21st.

That's from NASA :http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/podcasting/whatsup2012December.html

Play with the Planets yourself! See the position of Planets on various dates and see the conjunctions/oppositions for yourself.

http://www.solarsystemscope.com/

People say things that are wrong - and won't even check them.

NOW - When I say that we are in the Age of Pisces, and we are moving into the Age of Aquarius - a bunch of you will say otherwise. Well, why don't you check with the University of California - Irvine, and gain some knowledge from a College- Level Class. I didn't find it difficult to understand and learn.

Class starts here: http://learn.uci.edu/oo/getOCWPage.php?course=OC0811004&lesson=002&topic=001&page=12

It certainly doesn't mean that the end of the world will occur - but Planet alignments and the procession of the Constellations through the galaxy are fact. There is a correlation between planetary alignments and earthquakes/solar storms. NOW - whether or not that leads to causality of those phenomena is not yet known - HOWEVER - Patrick Geryl HAS successfully predicted earthquakes and solar flares in advance, based upon planetary alignments.

We can test his theory - WHICH I HOPE IS WRONG - because he predicts that on Dec. 17-18 there should be an earthquake of Magnitude 8+, and that on Dec. 21 there will be an earthquake of Magnitude 10+. I hope he is wrong - but I am highly interested, as many of his past predictions were correct.

Watch with interest and skepticism, but there is an outside chance he is right.

Richard: http://www.solarsystemscope.com/ is a cool link. Dec.21st is as close to an alignment as we will ever get.
I'm still buying Christmas gifts though, we will still celebrate even if we have no power.
