George Webb's Run Ends in 4th OWI Charge

Elm Grove man faces a year in jail after he's seen hitting a parked car in Wauwatosa.

A 58-year-old Elm Grove man is facing his fourth drunken driving charge after he  hit a parked car in Wauwatosa while on his way to a George Webb’s restaurant.

John P. Hey was charged Friday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of fourth-offense operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to one year in county jail and $2,000 in fines.

At 10:13 p.m. May 20, officers were called to the 2200 block of North 122nd Street after Hey hit a parked car with his Chevrolet Tahoe.

Hey said he was on his way to Webb’s when he did a U-turn and tried to park behind the car, but rear-ended it in the process.

He then backed up the SUV and drove around the parked car so he could park up the street.

But his hit-and-run parking adventure was witnessed and called in to the police.

The officer who responded noticed Hey smelled of acohol and had slurred speech, but he denied he had been drinking. He failed a field sobriety test, though, and a Breathalyzer test revealed a 0.158 blood alcohol level, which is nearly twice the legal limit to drive in Wisconsin.

Hey was previously convicted of OWI in 1995, 2002 and 2004. He will make his initial appearance in court July 6.
