Hartung Park Farmers' Market Opens Wednesday

The opening day features orchid-growing talk and more vendors than previous years.

The Hartung Park Farmers' Market opens Wednesday, June 13, from 4 to 7 p.m., with an expanded array of fresh produce-selling vendors, live guitar music and a talk on growing orchids.

“Opening day for our market is a community event, a great chance to catch up with neighbors, enjoy some music and reconnect with our returning farmers,” said Lynne Woehrle, president of the Hartung Park Community Association, in a press release. The group is on Facebook.

The event will feature Chuck Glander on guitar throughout the afternoon. To learn about orchids, stop by at 4:30 p.m., which is when orchid expert Bruce Efflandt will explain how best to grow the flowers. Efflandt is affiliated with the Wisconsin Orchid Society.

The market will host more vendors this year, according to the release from the association. The market is held weekly on Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. through September (except for July 4).

The market can be found just south of the playground at the Menomonee River Parkway and Keefe Avenue.
