Man Accused of Breaking Girlfriend's Wrist, Beating and Kicking Her
Two witnesses corroborate victim's story of being tripped and then attacked in apartment parking lot by her sometimes boyfriend and father of their child.
A 47-year-old Wauwatosa man is facing felony charges after police and witnesses said he tripped her in a parking lot, causing her to break her wrist, then beat and kicked her while she was down.
According to the criminal complaint, the defendant, who isn’t being named by Patch in order to protect the identity of the victim, had been living on and off with the woman in her apartment in the 3000 block of North 124th Street and she was raising his child.
The began to fight after he saw a photo he believed was of her having sex with another man, while she had just learned that he had contracted a sexually transmitted disease. Angry words led to threats, and she told him to leave so she could get their child off to school.
At one point the defendant wielded a clothing iron and acted as if he would hit the woman with it, and she decided to leave before he became violent. But he followed her outside and tripped her.
According to the victim and two witnesses, as she lay on the ground, he kicked her 10 to 12 times in the head, then punched her about 15 times with a closed fist. One witness to the incident said the man hit the woman “MMA style,” meaning mixed martial arts.
The two witnesses told police that when they tried to stop him, telling him it was wrong to beat a woman, he threatened to attack them as well.
The woman was admitted to Froedtert Hospital with a fractured radius.
According to police reports, the defendant admitted he “smacked her around a little.”
The man is charged with one count of substantial battery and faces up to 3½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines if convicted. He’s currently being held in the Milwaukee County Jail while awaiting trial.
