Milwaukee Man Charged With 3rd OWI After Arrest in Tosa

Wauwatosa police pull the suspect over after he's seen driving slowly and erratically through the city in November.

A 29-year-old Milwaukee man is accused of driving drunk through Wauwatosa in November.

Nathan C. Torgerson was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of third-offense operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to one year in jail and $2,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

At 2:34 a.m. Nov. 11, a Wauwatosa police officer spotted Torgerson driving very slowly and erratically in a Chevrolet Tahoe near Menomonee River Parkway and Charles Hart Parkway, so he pulled the SUV over. Torgerson said he consumed six to seven beers throughout the course of the day.

Torgerson failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of 0.225, which is nearly three times more than the legal limit to drive in Wisconsin.

Torgerson was previously convicted of OWI in 2007 and 2009. He’s currently free on a $250 signature bond while awaiting trial.

This third offense should be a felony. But since Wisconsin has such weak drunk driving laws, this guy will get a slap on the wrist and be out to drive drunk again.
