Obama Again Carries Wauwatosa, But More Narrowly
President again captures city, but by a smaller margin than in 2008 when he overturned a tradition of Republican voting.
President Barack Obama for a second time carried Wauwatosa in a national election, although this time by a more narrow margin.
Obama polled 15,220 votes in Wauwatosa, compared to 14,511 for Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
In 2008, Obama polled 15,573 to John McCain's 13,728.
Despite the Democratic president's win, Republican Tommy Thompson, in the race for the U.S. Senate, garnered 72 more votes here than did Democrat Tammy Baldwin, outpolling her just 14,588 to 14,516.
Obama becomes a two-term president after winning Wisconsin and the nation; Baldwin, after 14 years in the House of Representatives, becomes a U.S. senator-elect, the first woman from Wisconsin to hold that office. Thompson says he won't run for office again.
Wauwatosa voted for George W. Bush twice, in 2000 and 2004, before swinging to Obama and the Democratic ticket in 2008.
In other races affecting Wauwatosa, both the 13th and 14th State Assembly Districts were won by Republicans from Brookfield, besting two Democrats from Tosa.
In the 13th District, which is spread across the south sides of the two cities, Rob Hutton defeated John Pokrandt by 20,378 to 13,219. In the 14th, comprising the north sides of Tosa and Brookfield, incumbent Republican Dale Kooyenga defeated Democratic challenger Chris Rockwood, 20,921 to 14,451.
The voter turnout in Wauwatosa was a very high 88.63 percent, topping 2008's 86.5 percent. The total number of ballots cast was 30,182 out of just over 34,000 registered.
Below are vote totals for contested races in Wauwatosa. Results are for Wauwatosa only. The attached spreadsheet (see photo gallery) includes the unofficial vote tallies for all races broken down by ward.

Today it is confirmed that America is now a majority communist nation. Nikita Khrushchev laughs prophetically from the grave, "We will bury you." (1956) Senator Joseph McCarthy was right too; America was infiltrated in all areas of society by communists. Now, they are loud and proud. And, they have won, knowingly, decidingly electing communism as the form of government they want. America, "The last and greatest bastion of freedom" (Reagan, 1981): dead at 236 years. The Constitution of the United States of America: dead at 225 years. The full force of communism in America is now unleashed, led by a President who does not have to be diplomatic, law abiding or work in consideration of the public eye; the public eye knowingly sanctioned communism in America yesterday.

Hyperbole, just like all the cries of "democracy is dead" when Walker won. Don't forget that Obama's big supporters include major investment banks, the auto industry, and more than one billionaire. Both political parties and the President are very much beholden to private wealth and private industry. The idea that they would consider abolishing personal property in favor of communism is absurd. That both parties would keep us on an unsustainable path of government spending as much as possible to give voters and campaign supporters whatever they want is certain.

JBW, thanks for your insight. My point was that the majority of Americans subscribe to communist ideals. As such, the majority has spoken and that majority is of communist creed. This election was a symptom of the underlying diseases: lack of understanding of history (world, American, geo-political, post-1917 Russian/Eastern Eurpoean), faith in the cult of personality, and the delusion that communism run by people evens the playing field and cures poverty. The only company that Obama is beholden to is the Federal Reserve Corporation who owns him like it was 1864. He has marching orders to do their bidding, which is the end of the viability of the US Dollar, creating the necessity for a new world electronic currency. Personal propery will be abolished through the marshall law he will enact when riots ensue and the very government workers who love him and voted for him will riot in their offices after the government defaults and they stop getting paid. I do agree with you wholheartedly about both parties being culprits! The Romney vote was not pro-Romney, but Anti-Obama. Romney at least offered the hope of Paul Ryan who knows the budget problems inside-out and can be swayed to a libertarian platform.

Gee, I have not run into any Cold War Commie drivel like this since the 1980's. Bob Dylan wrote "Talkin' John Birch Paranoid Blues", narrated by a paranoid John Bircher who looks everywhere for Communists, even in his toilet bowl and at one point decides that they are in his television set.

I listened to a very, very interesting interview on NPR (1st link) by Michael Lewis who spent 6 months interviewing and shadowing President Obama. Even the president said he was shocked at the roadblocks put up/tactics employed by opposing interests every time an initiative was put forth. DEFINITELY worth listening to for a true or as true as possible insight of what President Obama is faced with in office.

Researcher, however did you decide on that name? You obviously don't do any real research, if you had you would know that the whole two year super majority claim by you republicans is a myth. Republicans contested the election of Al Franken, when Obama was sworn into office there were 58 Democrats. A supermajority is composed of 2/3 the Senate, and since 60 voters are required to overcome the filibuster rules, Obama didn’t even have the basic majority that he needed in order to pass legislation when he took office. The truth is that President Obama and Democrats only had a filibuster-proof majority from July 7, 2009 when Al Franken (D-MN) was ultimately seated, until August 25, 2009, when Ted Kennedy (D-MA), passed away. That's only seven weeks, not two years.

Wait...wasn't Obamacare supposed to solve the health care "crisis"?
Isn't government spending the key to a booming middle class?
I though dropping money from helicopters would end all our problems?
