Sexual Assault Suspect Taken Into Custody
Charged in a felony warrant for assaulting a 15-year-old girl, a Wauwatosa teenager is found sleeping at a friend's house.
An 18-year-old Wauwatosa man who was being sought on sexual assault charges is now in custody after police found him sleeping at a friend's house.
At 4:58 a.m. Wednesday, Ryan R. Wirtz was arrested on suspicion of having assaulted a 15-year-old Wauwatosa girl in his car on Dec 2.
Wirtz was charged out of custody last Friday on a felony warrant accusing him of second-degree sexual assault of a child, punishable by up to 40 years in prison.
Police officers found Wirtz sleeping at a friend’s house in the 5800 block of West Michigan Street, according to their reports.
Officers who picked up the case said they were familiar with Wirtz from regular police contacts and knew he frequented the east end of Wauwatosa.
The first sought him at the George Webb restaurant at 6108 W. Bluemound Road, where he had been working, but they were told he’d recently been fired.
They then checked with his parents at their home on West Martin Drive and learned that he was staying at the Michigan Street address. The homeowner admitted police to speak with Wirtz, and he was arrested without incident.
After booking, he was sent to the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility.
The girl went to police on Dec. 4 and told a female officer that Wirtz had picked her up at her home in his car and that they had driven around drinking vodka. He pulled over in the 800 block of Honey Creek Parkway, she said, and they began kissing.
She told the officer that Wirtz climbed on top of her and against her will and over her protests, groped her and eventually forced oral sex upon her.

Looks like trouble. Give the girl's dad 5 minutes alone with him.

How come kids these days don't comb their hair?

When I was a kid, that was just 2 kids gettin' at it. Now, it's a felony. It's easy to control the people when everything is a felony. Add somebody giving somebody head, and it's a juicy enhancement of titilating and salacious too. We won't blame the girl, but she did allow a young man to pick her up in his car. Problem so far? Yeah, me too. Then there was the bottle of vodka. THEN there was head. Now, it's 1st degree sexual assault? Rewind, please. Stories of kids change when they get caught, and it may be an easy deflection of the issues of rides with strangers and a bottle of vodka to add the he-said/she-said of a drunken hitchhiker hummer. Isn't that why girls hitchhike anyway? To get picked up by boys? To then drive them to the church social where they hold hands and think pure thoughts? "Susie Creamcheese, what's gotten into you?" -FZ-

Your post is pretty disturbing. It really doesn't matter whether the girl got into his car willingly or whether there was vodka. Forcing sexual contact on someone else has been a crime for as long as I can remember. This is compounded when the aggressor is an adult and the victim a minor. This has also been a social and legal standard since I was a child (which was a long time ago).
You quote Frank Zappa for reasons that really aren't clear. He opposed government overreach, particularly in the area of censorship, but he was not an advocate for sexual abuse of minors.

WOW, hearing commits like Ray Ray's makes me realize just how far we have to go. No is no is no. You can say yes to a ride, to a drink, to a kiss, that does not equate into some adult shoving his tool in your mouth. I commend the 15 year old that had the strength to stand up and point out her abuser in light of such ignorance as Ray Ray's. I can bet the farm that he does NOT have a teenage daughter.

Nancy, I quoted Frank because he overtly recognized the sluttiness of some girls, not to say with any certainty that this girl qualifies. I suppose she qualifies to the same degree that this 18 year old suspect is guilty of a crime. "Joe had a girlfriend named Mary. She used to go to the church club every week. They'd meet each other there, hold hands, and think pure thoughts. But one night at the social club meeting, Mary didn't show up. She was sucking c**k backstage at the Armory in order to get a pass to see some big rock group for free." -Crewslut, Joe's Garage Act I, 1979- Also, "You paint your head, your mind is dead, you don't even know what I just said...that's youuuu...American womanhood. You're phone on top, you're phony underneath, you lay in bed and grit your teeth..." -Harry You're a Beast, We're Only in it for the Money, 1968- Frank had much to say on Susie Creamcheese and what she really does. You are in over your head with this argument.

Amy, I do have a teenage daughter. And make no mistake, I know what they are capable of. I do not assume that my precious little lamb will carry her virginity accross the threshhold of matrimoney wiith Prince Charming. Probably, like most girls, she will lie to me at some point in the future, whether it's in high school or college, and she will drop trou with the boy she is desparately, passionately in love with, not believing me that his passion will quickly wane, uh, after, when "I love you so" turns into "I have to go" "Where's the remote?" or "Make me a sandwich". So let's not get personal, Amy. Have you ever gone to bed as a teenager, rushing past Daddy without a kiss goodnight, and the curious dog would not leave your breath alone? What team did those boys play for?

Nope. I'm not "in over [my] head." Zappa was talking/singing about a fictional groupie. Suzy Creamcheese and Joe's Garage aren't real. You're confusing art and reality and using this to rationalize the sexual violation of fifteen year old girl. This doesn't make you hip, it makes you sick and sad. It doesn't reflect on the crime, either. We're not talking about a jaded groupie. We're not even talking about consensual sex involving an underage participant. We're talking about a kid who got in over her head and an adult who took advantage of her...got her drunk and forced himself on her. He committed a crime and he got caught.

Nancy, you were the one who brought issue with my original FZ reference. In FZ quotes and biography, you are in over your head with me. Not to beat the dead Frank to death, Frank wrote these songs based on his experience with chicks on the road. His point is obvious and although written in fictional storyesque, he does accurately depict the fact that there are naughty girls out there. There are. Back to this issue, I hope you aren't a judge or lawyer. He did not necessarily commit a crime. So far, it's merely 'she said', and it may or may not be true. But that's not even the issue for me. How did this boy know that she was pick-up-able? What signal did she give to passing motorists that indicated that she was on the market? Was she getting her business plan together? Why did this boy single her out? What prompted her to enter his vehicle? Did she enter on the lure of booze? I can't dispute that 18 is of legal age and 15 isn't, but my instincts tell me that this may very well be a very naughty teenage girl, the kind you don't take home to mother, who will never let your spirits down, once you get her off the street. She may very well be a super freak, super freak, who was super freaking, yow! (Temptations, sing!) Or maybe she was assulted and all allegations are true. Maybe it was guilt. Hurt feelings? Jealousy? Hangover w/standard regret? Was she alone at the time of the pick-up? Friends don't let friends climb into cars, get drunk, and gob knob. We just don't know, do we?

When 'drunken skank' is on the endangered species list, I'll shed a tear for all poor victims. You assume that the drunken teenage humming hitchhiker is a victim. Not necessarily. As for the minor issue, the fact that he was 18 is a technicality. I was 15 and had an 18 year old girlfriend I was banging. Was she sexually assaulting me just because she was 18? And she bought me beer and made me go down on her in her car. I suppose if my neck was on the line and it was me or her, I might drop a dime on her, depending on how bad it was for me. Not all teenagers who put out are victims of others. They may be victims of themselves. Some are just plain hosebags. When 'white trash' goes on the endangered species list, I'll shed a tear.

Ray Ray - You seem to be really, really defensive about sexual abuse of children (yes, victims under 18). Go find more appropriate websites for your sexual fantasies and moral turpitudes. .

Ray, you appear to base much of your attitude on the fact that you think the girl was hitch hiking and allowed herself to be picked up by a stranger. The story in no way implies that. It says he picked her up. That could easily have been from home. Now here a a high school freshman getting the attention of a senior. Talk about peer pressure. She may have taken the vodka willingly and she probably thought it was great that he wanted to kiss her. At 15 it's a lot less likely that she was willing to give him a blow job. He tried, she said no and it should have ended at that. No means no in any language. If ignored no means second degree sexual assault charges. Good for her for having the guts to report the creep,

My apologies. The original story on the investigation did point out that the defendant picked the girl up at her home; I inadvertently left that fact out of this follow-up on his arrest. The girl was not hitch-hiking – she was going on a date.

Dick G, maybe it was your daughter, and you're troubled that she has her own dress from the Monica Lewinski protein stained collection. Maybe it's your trips to the woodshed wih your own daughter that inspired your asinine left-field attack. It obvioisly hit you close to home. Only an absolute cork soaker such as yourself could surmise a conclusion such as you did.

Garden girl, you may very well be right. 15 is below the age of consent, but then again kids consent with other kids, and a 15 year old looks at an 18 year old like another kid.

Instead of feeling sad that this man lives in our community I am going to rejoice that the other women that posted are also in my community, helping defend, without judgement, this 15 years old to face her violator I trust that our local government has taken the time to explore this situation and find the evidence that implicated the man and got him arrested.
