Three Teens Attacked in Three Days by Other Youths

In first incident, three boys are arrested after assaulting and robbing a 13-year-old.

Three unrelated incidents over three straight days last week involving youths attacking youths are being treated as strong-arm robberies by Wauwatosa police.

At 6 p.m. Aug. 15, three Milwaukee boys, 13, 14 and 15 years old, were arrested on suspicion of strong-arm robbery after a 13-year-old Milwaukee boy who attends Longfellow Middle School reported that they confronted him in the 2500 block of North 69th Street and demanded his iPod and his watch.

He turned over the iPod but refused to give up the watch. One of the three punched him, so he gave it up and then ran away yelling for help. A passing citizen stopped for him and called police.

The three boys were captured five blocks away and the victim’s belongings were recovered and returned to him. He was not injured.

At 3:02 p.m. Tuesday, a 15-year-old Wauwatosa boy reported he had been punched in the face in an attempted strong-arm robbery in the alley between north 62th and 63rd streets north of West North Avenue.

He had seen a group of boys or young men standing around the Blockbuster Video parking area and was afraid of them, so he turned away down the alley. As he was passing behind Ted’s Ice Cream, he heard footsteps behind him, then saw one of the youths run at him from a yard and another came at him from the rear.

One said “Gimme what’s in your pockets,” and then punched him. He was not injured and lost no property. He described the youth who struck him as a black male, 15 years old, 5-feet-5-inches tall, 140 pounds, medium brown complexion, with black hair tied into short, spiky dreadlocks.

At 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, a 17-year-old Wauwatosa boy reported that he had been the victim of a strong-arm robbery at 6510 W. State St.

He said he had been walking home from a friend’s house when he was attacked after hearing someone run up from behind him. He turned and was immediately punched in the face and fell to the pavement.

His assailant leaned over and punched several more times, telling him to give him everything he had, then began reaching into his pockets.

A car pulled up and the driver called out to hurry so they could get out of there. He said his assailant, a black male 19-20 years old, 5-feet-5-inches tall, 160 pounds, of average build with braided hair rolled tightly to his head, ran to a black midsize Chevy and they drove off.

The boy lost an iPod Nano, a phone and his wallet with school ID and $2. He had swelling and bruises around both eyes but declined medical treatment.

I will bet 1000 dollars that if 3 different black kids got attacked by groups of white kids, it would be front page news all over the country. Instead, we just look down at our shoes and say," Oh, well..."

"Gimme what’s in your pockets" After Oct/Nov when conceal carry is in place I don't believe this model citizen will be daying that again.

I doubt 15-year-olds will be will be carrying concealed handguns on and around the school grounds on weekday afternoons as a result of the conceal carry law, so the same crime could still go down the same way.

@LumberJack...Time for you to go back to the forest. Your statement indicates a bit of an overreaction to a property crime. this kind of attitude and thinking is what makes many citizens reluctant to granting trigger happy types form carrying concealed. Open carry would be more of a deterrent to strong arm robberies.

It would be prudent for these kids to walk in pair or groups. Strength in numbers. And carry pepper spray!

It would be more prudent to travel by car. What do they call it when armed groups of kids from different neighborhoods clash in the streets?

That's exactly the mentality of the small groups of kids perpetrating these acts. Strength in numbers. I fear as to the possible escalation of these events - - when punches turn to guns, or even worse, retaliation against any groups of kids that are walking to and fro. If this continues, Wauwatosa police may take the same measure of Mequon and River Hills police - what is referred to as "DWB" or "WWB" - and we don't want that.
