The Tosa Farmers Market offers one more reason to know your food – and eat it, too.
In true farmers market tradition, Wauwatosans and their neighbors will gather at Blue’s Egg restaurant from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 11 to meet, greet and eat, with food gathered from local producers and prepared by local chefs.
Presented by the Tosa Farmers Market, the Annual Farmers Feast marks the end of this year’s market season and offers visitors one more chance to mingle with the makers of their favorite harvest purchases.
A fundraiser to support the goings-on at Wauwatosa’s biggest weekly summertime gathering, the Feast will feature live local music, libations from Blue’s Egg cash bar, fantastic raffle items and an opportunity to meet with Wisconsin farmers and vendors from the Tosa Farmers Market
Guests who purchase tickets to the Feast will be provided a thoughtfully crafted meal produced from the freshest Tosa Farmers Market ingredients.
The Feast is one of many efforts made by the Tosa Farmers Market to provide an opportunity for members of the community to learn about the benefits of health, nutrition and sustainability.
Aside from making fresh foods affordable and available at their weekly Saturday morning markets, the Market’s other efforts to educate the community about healthy lifestyle choices include coordinating Saturday morning yoga classes and educational workshops for children and families.
Proceeds from the event will fund the administrative costs required to organize and raise awareness for the Farmers Market. Funds also help keep the yearly fees of the farmers low and make their weekly commitment to the market affordable.
Tosa Farmers Market, a project of the Fire Fly Foundation, Ltd., is a volunteer-run, open-air market that brings locally grown fruits and vegetables and foods crafted by Wisconsin artisans directly to the people of Wauwatosa and surrounding communities.
