Wendy's Restaurant Hosts Grand Opening Tuesday
The fast-food establishment expects to provide at least 50 jobs, while offering patrons the chance to try out the new Coca-Cola "Freestyle" machine with more than 100 drink options.
Wauwatosa's only Wendy's Restaurant hosts a grand opening and ribbon cutting on 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The restaurant is at 3140 N. 124th St. and features both free wi-fi and a Coca-Cola "Freestyle" machine that presents customers with more than 100 drink options.
“We are very excited to bring Wendy’s quality, menu variety and value back to Wauwatosa ... with a beautiful new restaurant,” said Gregg Castillo, director of operations for BF Companies.
The restaurant expects to employ more than 50 people.

way to go, 50 part time minimum wage jobs for Wauwatosa.
that should fix things.
How about less of a editorial focus on corporate chains, and more of a focus on local and small businesses.

Do you know of any local and small businesses that are having grand openings in the area?
Please don't discount this as just a bunch of part time, minimum wage jobs--our society needs those types of jobs as well. Don't forget that the Wendy's franchisee that owns the place is working to support his/her family just as any other small business owner is.

It should also be noted that this business will also bring in tax revenues to the area.

I would rather read about an existing business in the Wauwatosa area as opposed to a new fast food chain location that serves up pink slime. This article could have been summed up in one sentence.

@alt: Thanks for your input and participation. To be fair, Tosa Patch has focused quite a bit on independent local businesses also — Rocket Baby Bakery, North Avenue Grill and the ongoing saga with the Rosebud, to name a few in recent history, not to mention the continued coverage of what's going on with the UWM Innovation Park project, something that would bring many higher-paying jobs here. Wendy's is Wendy's, yes, but it's still a business, still providing jobs locally.

Alt,
There are four sentences in the article, you have written five in your responses.
Not every week has what you classify as a small business opening in town. Last month was pretty good in Tosa for such a thing: http://wauwatosa.patch.com/articles/rocket-baby-bakery-gets-off-the-ground-with-a-fanfare

Perhaps there are other small businesses out there that Mr. Price hasn't covered. If you know of one he missed, I am sure he would welcome a friendly email informing him.
You have indicated a preference in types of business. We all have that. Mine preference is to try visit those that are not subsidized with tax dollars. As a result, of the two new businesses mentioned, I visit the North Ave Grill more than I do the bakery. I like to reward owners who are trying to make a go of it on their own. Perhaps a better use of Mr. Price's time with regard to small business would be to investigate the progress of recipients of last year's Community Development Block Grants. The bakery is one of those recipients and is up and running....what are the other recipients doing with our tax dollars?
Your preference for small business is a valid one and one that generally is good for Tosa. However, your criticism of lack of coverage by Patch misses the mark.

Thank you Jim, Matthew, and Random Blogger.
I did not say I would like more of a focus on new small business openings, just more of a focus on local and existing small businesses.
I really like the Wauwatosa Patch community. I am just expressing my personal opinions. These are merely sarcastic jabs at the city of Wauwatosa government, as opposed to the editorial staff.

No problem, @alt. And it should be noted that we at Patch have found that our customers generally eat up business news, whether it be a fast food grand opening or the first step in a huge development. So we try to make sure people know about these things. ... And I've gotta admit, I tried out the Coke freestyle machine myself at another restaurant last night and it is pretty cool.

A general reply to all. I will be going to the grand opening ribbon-cutting of Signature Sweets, new small business at 7227 W. North Ave., at 4 p.m. Anyone who's free should stop in.
