Men... Enough Said?

As a single mom who adopted my son on my own I get comments all the time asking me when I am going to get married. Well, the answer to that is when I meet the right guy. Then that is always followed by, "I can hook you up with someone...."

I get so much pressure to date and/or get married all the time. If it is not from other people, it is from my own son! I honestly just think, well yeah... let me get right on that. Between working full time, being involved in the foster care system, taking care of the house, yard work and all of the things that go along with being a mom... let me get right on that one!

I know everyone means well, but really why do I HAVE to be married? There are so many single moms out there doing it on their own. They are doing just fine, and I am too.

If the right man comes along, I will not pass along the oppertunity, but I am not going to be out searching either. I do not have time for that!

We are very entrenched in our society about what we believe is the norm and setting social mores. My wife often jokes with her girlfriends about wanting a "sister wife". But not for celestial reasons, but because she thinks it would be easier to run the household with another adult to help share the daily tasks. You are a brave woman for taking on parenting by choice alone. But don't be too hard on us men. Most of the time we are doing our best. :)

HA! I am not being hard on the men. I just get tired of heard that I need to hurry up and get married. My kid tries to marry me off at McDonald's, to the We energies man, anyone that smiles at me really. Then there are all the others.

Being a single mom I am busy as heck and dating and the drama and games that come with it just does not sound like anything fun right now. I have enough to deal with.

If the right one comes along, I am open to it, but to go out searching right now...not so much! LOL
