The Harley-Davidson Museum Honors Veterans on Special Veterans Day Weekend Celebration

Activities planned Nov. 10-11 include performances from St. John's Northwestern Military Academy cadets, Glory the Bald Eagle and more

The Harley-Davidson Museum hosts its annual Veterans Celebration Weekend Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10 and 11, offering several activities for military, their families and the community to pay tribute and celebrate our nation’s service men and women.

 

“Harley-Davidson has a long history of supporting the military,” said Bill Davidson, Vice President of the Harley-Davidson Museum. “During our annual Veterans Celebration, we host additional activities to recognize our military visitors and their families to show our continued appreciation for their commitment to serving our country.”

The Museum also has a permanent gallery on its second floor dedicated to showcasing the company’s longstanding relationship with the military. This gallery has several one-of-a-kind artifacts that highlight the support Harley-Davidson specifically provided during WWI and WWII. Also, the Museum offers a special military admission every day of the year.

The Veterans Celebration includes:

 

Free Admission for military, veterans and their families
Saturday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 11

All military personnel (active, reserve, discharged and retired) and their immediate family members (limited to one additional adult admission and four children under the age of 18) receive free admission to the Museum.

 

St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy Program

Saturday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m.

St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy cadets will perform a moving ceremony honoring veterans from wars spanning from World War I to current conflicts, dressed in authentic military uniforms. The program concludes with a ceremony honoring six branches of the military and a 21-gun salute.

 

St. John’s Northwestern Military Drill Team

Saturday, Nov. 10, at 3 p.m.

The St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy “Silver Rifles” Exhibition Drill Team performs its intricate precision marching and demilitarized rifle spinning and tossing.

 

Meet Glory the Bald Eagle

Saturday, Nov. 10, and Sunday, Nov. 11, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Glory, the Museum’s feathered ambassador from the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, is onsite with his handler to interact with visitors and pose for photos.  

 

Harley-Davidson Flag Signing

Saturday, Nov. 10, and Sunday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Harley-Davidson flags are available all weekend for guests to sign. These flags will be presented to a military unit currently serving overseas.

 

Special Museum Lobby Display

Saturday, Nov. 10, and Sunday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The 2011 & 2012 Custom Bike Show People’s Choice award winner “Tribute Bike,” owned by Vietnam Vet Lee McAndrew, is being displayed in the Museum lobby. The bike features various scenes related to the Vietnam War and pays tribute to those who served.

 

American Flag Collection

Saturday, Nov. 10, and Sunday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their worn American flag to the Museum to be properly retired.
