Joseph and Jennifer Kresl, of Elm Grove, received the Zoological Society of Milwaukee’s (ZSM’s) highest award, the Emu Egg, on Sept. 17 at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The award is presented for exceptional contributions and commitment to the ZSM and the Zoo. Joe Kresl, who is president of Hawks Landscape, Inc., of Wauwatosa, is on the ZSM’s Board of Directors and serves on the ZSM’s master planning committee. The Kresls have been sponsors of the Zoological Society’s Fantastic Forest in the Zoo’s entrance atrium for 13 years. Hawks donated the landscape design and plantings for the Zoo’s entrance as a part of the last capital campaign. The Kresls chaired Zoo Ball 2010, and annually participate in several ZSM fundraisers. They received the award, a real emu egg encased in glass, at the ZSM’s annual Platypus Circle dinner, which honors major donors to the Zoological Society. The Kresls received previous ZSM awards in 2005 and 2008.
