Milwaukee Art Museums Invites Families to Celebrate Día de los Muertos

On Sunday, October 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Milwaukee Art Museum welcomes the public to participate in Kohl’s Art Generation Family Sundays: Día de los Muertos. Children and families can celebrate the memory of loved ones through this annual cultural festivity! They will learn about the traditions and symbols of “Day of the Dead” while enjoying customary music and dance. There will be fun art activities, and everyone is invited to make a creative addition to a community ofrenda.

While at the Museum, kids and families can stop into the Kohl’s Education Center—a fun, interactive space designed to give kids an appreciation for art through participation in exciting, creative, hands-on projects. Part of the Kohl's Art Generation program, this space is made possible through $6.3 million from Kohl's Cares to the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Also on view is the Museum's newest exhibition, Thomas Sully: Painted Performance. This original exhibition features over 70 paintings by American master portraitist Thomas Sully and focuses on his love of the theater, with images of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Richard III. Pick up a free Family Guide for the exhibition, specifically designed to help kids learn and interact with the art.
