Magical Message Lights Up Library Crowd

Art of illusion illuminates the importance of reading as 'Great Scott' thrills kids with sleight of hand.

A full house greeted "The Great Scott," also known as magician Scott Obermann, for a performance Thursday at the community room of the Wauwatosa Civic Center.

The show, sponsored by the Wauwatosa Public Library, was more than tricks. Obermann themed his show to the importance of reading, taking his rapt audience on a tour of the world while solving a mystery with clues concealed in books, an atlas and a globe.

Obermann wowed young and old alike with legerdemain, but the message was "I love to read!" – the magic words that for this performance replaced "abracadabra."
