Office Hours: Look Up Your Patch Editor Friday at Starbucks

We Patch editors are a peripatetic lot.

We work at home, roaming from room to room (out on the deck if weather permits), tool around in our cars, land in cafes and the library, and of course work from City Hall, the School Administration Building, or whatever business or church or out-of-the-way location we are called upon to visit for a story.

On Friday, I will be spending most of my day – from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – at Starbucks in the Village, holding Office Hours.

I've done this before in various places for various times, but I've never announced it. This time, and going forward each week at different sites around town, I'm inviting anyone who wants to stop by, for coffee or just a brief chat, to look for my Patch computer (big green letters) and say hello.

While I willl be working, I will welcome your interruption – because getting in touch with my community is part of my job.

If you're a business person or have an organization or institution you'd like to promote, I can show you the free tools Patch provides for posting your events and announcements.

If you have a listing in our community directory, I can show you on the spot how you can "claim" your listing and own it, giving you the right to post your own pictures, take down old ones, add new information or change what's there.

If we missed you and you don't have a directory listing, I can create one for you and you can claim it – on the spot.

If you would like to blog on Patch, I can sign you up – on the spot.

I'm also open to news tips (and how!), advice and yes, even complaints about how Patch is covering the community. If you think there's something I should be doing and am not, or am doing but ought not, I'm open to the discussion.

And of course, if you just want to say hello and look the guy behind the computer screen in the eye, that's fine, too.
