Parkway Group Calls Meeting to Air Concerns Over Power Lines
Proposals for electrical service upgrade could affect Underwood Parkway as well some residential areas.
Preserve Our Parkway, a new organization concerned about proposals for new power lines on the west side of Wauwatosa, is hosting a community meeting tonight to educate neighbors about the impact of the plans on , Underwood Creek and residential areas.
The meeting will be in the Gym, 11132 W. Potter Road, with an open house format from 5 to 7 p.m. and a presentation beginning at 7.
American Transmission Company (ATC) is proposing an electric system
reinforcement project that involves construction of a new We Energies substation adjacent to the existing Milwaukee County Substation at North 93rd Street and Watertown Plank Road, and construction of two separate 138,000-volt transmission lines to connect the substation to the transmission system that
serves the area.

One of the proposed routes identified would place a transmission line along Underwood Parkway. ATC is also considering a route west of 115th Street to 120th Street, which would run adjacent to Underwood Creek and through a wetland/floodplain area.
The proposed electric transmission lines are being built largely to serve the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center. ATC representatives will be on hand during an informal open house to provide details on their Western Milwaukee County Electric Reliability Project from 5 to 7 p.m., and then will make a brief presentation at 7, followed by a question and answer session.
