Sandy Hook Paintings on Display at Wauwatosa Library

Wauwatosa artist painted the 20 children who were killed in the December 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Wauwatosa artist Joanne Bowring has been painting the children who were killed in last December’s Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, CT.

The paintings are now on display in a memorial showing at the Wauwatosa Public Library. The 20 paintings are accompanied by poems, according to the library’s website.

“The children appear to be in beautiful gardens with their own butterfly,” states the library’s website. “This symbolizes the fragile beauty of childhood. The impact of showing them all together is unforgettable. They almost become one. The statement is there for all to never forget. “
