Schoonmaker Reef: A Wauwatosa Treasure House

This special educational video presentation was created to accompany our news story, , which details how the puzzle pieces could come together for Wauwatosa to take charge of one of the world's most important geologic sites.

Schoonmaker Reef is already a National Historic Landmark, but for decades has been hidden behind industrial buildings. Now it has been exposed to public view, although it is still relatively difficult to access and understand.

Wauwatosa Patch is adopting the preservation and restoration of Schoonmaker Reef as its first community service project, and beginning with today's story and this video, we hope many others in Wauwatosa will learn about and help promote this legendary local landmark.

We hope everyone will enjoy it, and we particularly hope that teachers and students in Wauwatosa's schools will watch this special presentation and learn about this astonishing piece of our history – as it was conceived and created especially for them.
