Tosa's Children's Hospital Nominated in Facebook Charity Campaign

Insurer Liberty Mutual will split $90,000 among three causes that get most votes through social media.

Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa is among seven southeast Wisconsin charitable causes nominated to receive a $30,000 donation from a major insurance company – if it is among three top vote-getters in a social media campaign.

Liberty Mutual Insurance has launched “Like My Community,” a Facebook-based campaign to provide $90,000 to local non-profit causes nominated by local company agents.

Metro area residents can vote for their favorite causes from now through Aug. 1 by visiting facebook.com/libertymilwaukee. The top three causes will be awarded $30,000 each in late August.

To remind people of the ongoing campaign, signs featuring large three-dimensional Facebook “Like” buttons have been installed on the grounds of each of the nominated Like My Community causes. Each cause also is featured in a  video on the Like My Community Milwaukee Facebook page, with a message  explaining why the cause matters and how the charity would use the award money.

Community members can vote once per day per cause and can share the videos with friends via their Facebook News Feed or via email.
