Traffic, Parking Bound to Be Problems Saturday as Village Throws Multiple Parties

VillageGreen Street Fair, Tosa Farmer's Market and Highland Games all start in the morning in the Village.

Anyone thinking of passing through or near the Village of Wauwatosa on Saturday morning for any reason other than to attend one of the three major events taking place there starting in the morning might want to rethink their route. Traffic will no doubt be heavy, some streets and parking lots will be closed, and parking anywhere near will be at a premium.

The Tosa Farmer's Market is first up with an 8 a.m. start time, and it takes up all of the municipal parking lot east of Harwood Avenue on the south side of the Menomonee River. The large lot west of Harwood is open but heavily used by market-goers, and the market lasts until 1 p.m.

The VillageGreen Street Fair and Highland Games both start at 9 a.m. The Street Fair will block some Village streets until its broken down after its 3 p.m. close. The Highland Games lay claim to the Hart Park parking lot until 10 p.m., although if you get there in time you can park there for $3.

If you must drive, one option is to park along Honey Creek Parkway to the south of the river and walk to these events via the footbridge near 72nd Street.

Pedestrian traffic between the Farmer's Market and the Street Fair will likely also be heavy, and many children will be present, so drivers should be alert, cautious and courteous.
