WISN: Coyote Sightings in 'Tosa

Coyotes in Wauwatosa? Apparently so, according to photos sent to WISN 12 News and comments from readers on Facebook.

Residents throughout Wauwatosa are reporting sightings of a coyote. Whether or not it's the same animal roaming the city streets - or more than one - has yet to be determined.

Our media partners at WISN 12 News posted a handful of photos last week on Facebook after residents submitted photos.

We wanted to know if, where and when Patch readers have seen coyotes. Here's what you had to say Friday on the Wauwatosa Facebook page:

Debra Carter Randall: Just saw this coyote tonight while walking home from the Tosa Village on Milwaukee Ave near 68th Street around 8 pm. We have also seen him in our backyard in the Highlands a few months ago.

Sonja Hagen Mohr: I saw him trotting down 73rd Street on the 4th of July. Looked just like that one. Very, very thin.

Tom McCormick: Not sure if that's the same one but we have a resident coyote in the Highlands. Been around for a couple years now.

Anita Hero: I have seen coyotes and foxes many times. I live by the parkway.

And finally, sound advice from David Esau about how to handle the situation if a coyote visits your backyard, "Do not attempt to corner it in a back yard with the only exit being the driveway."
