'Cupcake Wars' Entrant from Wauwatosa Comes Up Short

A bakery in Georgia won the Food Network competition, which was taped in February but aired Sunday night.

was unable to take home the prize from the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars,” broadcast Sunday evening.

Patty Cakes Cupcakes from Cobb County in Georgia captured the $10,000 award for winning the final, according to Access Atlanta. The competition was taped in February and broadcast Sunday. Also participating were , and another from California.

Nicole Bitter and Kimberly Hall opened their store at 7227 W. North Ave. in late May. Hall had applied to join Cupcake Wars the previous season, when the shop was still in the business-plan stages.

Though the duo did not win, Signature Sweets received a lot of attention and one fan from Oregon offered raves on the Signature Sweets Facebook page. Wrote Laura Fisher of Oregon:

I saw you on Cupcake Wars tonight, and I was so sad that they didn't like your cupcake! I really thought your reviews were better than some of the others, and my sister and I were shocked when you got out!
