Walmart Uses Facebook and You Tube to Publicize Upcoming Tosa Neighborhood Market

The grocery store will be one of just 200 of its kind in the country, and is expected to open June 20.

Walmart has taken to You Tube and Facebook, in addition to traditional PR, to let Wauwatosa residents know its new neighborhood market will open June 20, bringing with it 80 jobs.

According to a company press release, the shop is the first such Walmart to open in Wisconsin and will be one of just 200 nationwide. It will be located at 3850 N. 124th St.

The new company manager, John Fitzgerald, who began his career with the corporation pushing carts in Sheboygan, took to You Tube to introduce himself to the community and encourage people to show up for the opening.  In another video, he tells residents what the store will entail. The store also has a Facebook site that contains photos that include an introduction from the store pharmacist.

“We are excited that a vibrant, new business is opening in this location,” said Wauwatosa Mayor Kathleen Ehley, in a press release from Walmart. “Wauwatosa is a good-sized city, but a close-knit community, and we look forward to the store’s associates becoming engaged and involved as community partners.”
