Final Leaf Collection Pushed Back to Next Monday

In wake of a slow season, the city decides to wait another week for the final leaf collection cycle of the year.

With the autumn leaves being stubborn this year due to above average temperatures, the Public Works Department announced that the final leaf collection will be extended to next Monday.

Originally planning to conclude the work Nov. 13, the city realized only 45 percent of the estimated 4,000 tons of leaves have been collected with two of the planned three collection cycles. Normally, the collection rate is closer to 60 percent at this point in the season.

Be aware, the final leaf collection is weather-dependent, but to be certain that your leaves will be picked up, please have the leaves, weeds and lawn debris raked along your curb in the street by the end of the day on Sunday.

Rake-outs after the date will be charged a late pick-up fee. With a valid permit, yard waste and leaves can be brought to the Public Works yard.

A well organized leaf pickup will help the city transition into the first snowfall, which is lurking around the corner.
