Golf at Sunset or In the Dark at Hansen Park

For some of us, golfing in dark is just as well as in the daylight -- all our balls are going in the woods anyway.

But if you're straight-shooter and can see enough to find the fairway, there are extended hours on the links galore at Hansen Park this summer.

Sunset Golf Specials have been in effect since opening day in April, but few were playing in the miserable weather.

Now that things are lovely out -- the course is lush from all that rain -- you can start a round at 7:30 p.m. now through July 31 for just $7.

Golfing in the gloaming gets progressively earlier as the season wanes and days get shorter.

Sunset hours, also for $7, start at 7 p.m. throughout August; at 6:30 from Sept. 1 through 15; 6 p.m. from then through the end of September; at 5:30 'til Oct. 15; at 5 p.m. from Oct. 16 through Nov. 2; and at 3:45 from then until snow drives the last fanatic off the course.

Glow in the Dark golfing, too

If driving in the dusk isn't challenging enough, you can also try it in the dead of night.

For $15, play Nite-Glow Golf at Hansen, from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. on selected Fridays throughout the season.

You'll get nine holes, a glow-in-the-dark ball, and a glow necklace so others won't clonk you. Being back the ball for a $2 refund, or keep it for next time and pay only $10.50 to play.

Remaining dates this year are June 28, July 12 and 26, Aug. 9 and 23, and Sept. 6 and 20.

If you find you love it, you can play on the alternating Fridays to those at Warnimont Park or every Friday at Lake Park.
