Wauwatosa Native's 'Cheesy Garlic Bread' Flavor Wins Frito-Lay Contest

Karen Weber-Mendham, a Wauwatosa East graduate, won the Frito-Lay contest and will have her chip flavor go on sale nationwide for the rest of 2013, as well as win $1,000,000 or more.

A Wauwatosa native's potato chip flavor of Cheesy Garlic Bread has won Lay's' "Do Us A Flavor" contest.

Karen Weber-Mendham's flavor will become part of the Frito-Lay family and she will get $1,000,000 or one percent of her flavor's 2013 net sale (whichever is higher).

Weber-Mendham beat out a Brookfield native's flavor of chicken and waffles and an Illinois man's flavor of sriracha.

The Land O' Lakes resident was inspired by her kids’ love of garlic bread and impatience of waiting for food when going to an Italian restaurant.

"You're at your favorite Italian restaurant, you're starving & WAITING FOREVER," she wrote on the contest Facebook page. "Finally, the breadsticks come & they save your life!"
