WAUMC Community Coffee House to host Irish folk band Tallymoore and acoustic duo Blue Waters

The public is invited to an evening of blues and Irish folk music when

the Community Coffee House at Wauwatosa
Avenue United Methodist Church, 1529 Wauwatosa Ave., hosts acoustic duo Blue Waters and Irish folk band Tallymoore on
Saturday, March 22. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with music from 7 – 9 p.m.


A free-will offering will be collected for admission and light refreshments.

Free parking is available in
the ramp and surface lot behind the church off Underwood Avenue directly across from the fire station. Enter the building through the southwest door (red roof) or the northwest door (handicap accessible) off the upper level of the parking structure.

Blue Waters will play the first set from 7 – 8 p.m. Rick Gerek on harmonica and Bill Armstrong on guitar will perform a variety of blues-oriented music from the early 1900s on. Blue Waters currently performs weekly at Le Cakery in Elm Grove.

Tallymoore will
appear on the WAUMC Community Coffee House stage at 8 p.m. The four-piece group made its debut performance in August 2012. Since then, the Milwaukee-based contemporary Irish folk group has appeared at major Midwestern festivals, at popular bars and restaurants and as featured artists for annual events and fundraisers.

Their modern adaptations of classic Irish folk tunes make them a favorite among music lovers and festival goers. Strong vocal harmonies, youthful energy and engaging spirit set Tallymore apart from the traditional style.

They wrapped up their
2013 summer with the release of their first full-length, self-titled album.



Proceeds from this Community Coffee House evening benefit WAUMC youth’s Appalachia Service Project mission trip. A team of 12 young people and six adult counselors will head to Kentucky in July on behalf of this home repair ministry that focuses on making homes warmer, safer and drier for families in need. 


Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church dates back to 1848 and began with 42-members. Today, the congregation is more than 400 strong and firmly committed to inclusiveness, celebrating a diversity of people, ideas and cultures.

WAUMC offers two Sunday services,
Christian education classes for individuals ages 3 through adult, a variety of
adult and youth music programs and Girl Scout and Boy
Scout troops. The congregation is involved with more than a dozen
local, national and international mission outreach efforts.

The Mary of Magdala, Apostle to the Apostles, inclusive Vatican II Catholic
Church celebrates Eucharist every Sunday in Wesley Hall at 9:45 a.m. on
the WAUMC campus, as of Jan. 13, 2013.
