When You're on the Tip of a Plane's Right Wing...

.. the fuselage may appear to you to be the left wing.

By way of quick introduction, I just want to share the observation that, in my view, a lot of things considered extreme by the right-wing commentariat are in fact, mainstream American values.

For example, hand-wringing about our Second Amendment rights obscures the fact that handguns are first and foremost for killing human beings, which is why the vast majority of us don't own them. (More on this topic shortly.) 

This blog will probably be viewed as extremely left-wing to a few people, but I'll be sitting in tourist class, my seat in the upright position, with everybody else.

Who knows where this trip will take us? 

As for my political leanings, I'll just say that I don't think Barack Obama is a foreign terrorist or that Ronald Reagan was a great president.

I look forward to dialogue with fellow Tosans on a variety of topics. However, I do reserve the right to ignore remarks that I regard as thoughtless or simply mean-spirited. (It's not that I can't take it – or dish it out, for that matter – but what's the point?)
