Revisit the Design of Discovery Parkway

The new road at the UWM development on the County Grounds has a name but there are still issues that need to be addressed.

It's my belief that the design of in its current form is simply too wide. This road is meant to serve as an access road to the UWM project as well as the Eschweiler buildings and adjacent residential development.

In its current form, it is simply beyond what is needed to accomplish its purpose. I would like to see the 16-foot median removed, as it makes the road unnecessarily wide and will require maintenance.

I also favor removing the traffic circle; I understand the desire to slow traffic but a simple controlled intersection would take up less land.

Beyond that I would favor a staggered parking lane. I don't believe parking needs to be continuous, as I feel few people would choose to park on the hill near the Parks Department.

This project will be a great addition to Wauwatosa, and I fully support it. But it is important to build no more road than we really need to serve the project.

We have a chance to not only reduce our costs in the short and long term but also to minimize the impact on the migration corridor.
