Ceremony honors business professionals making an impact on their communities.

CCN magazine will present the 2013 Midwest Urban Empowerment Awards on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the MillerCoors Stables, 4251 W. State St., Milwaukee. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and live entertainment.

The Midwest Urban Empowerment Awards recognize the influential movers and shakers of our area. Award nominees have been instrumental in helping to enrich the lives of people throughout the Midwest region and beyond. Awardees have exemplified urban community empowerment and have changed the lives of countless individuals. The journey to become a pioneer in one’s industry requires great leadership, endurance, and tenacity.

The master of ceremonies for the evening is CBS-58 News anchor and reporter Mike Strehlow. Betina Driver, president and director of the Donald Driver Foundation, and wife of former Green Bay Packer Donald Driver, will be the keynote speaker.

“I am elated that this, our fourth annual awards ceremony, will continue to honor the best of the best in the Midwest. All of our distinguished recipients are being recognized for their unselfish contributions to their communities,” said Malinda Young, publisher of CCN Magazine.

The Midwest Urban Empowerment Awards recognizes people who have made significant contributions of their time and/or financial resources. Award categories and recipients are:

Urban: Reed Hall, Secretary and CEO, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation
