Being A Parent Means...
I have learned that quality time is completely necessary. We have Mommy-Elijah time when we go and do something special together. It means a lot to both of us.
Since becoming a parent, I have learned quite a few things. I learned that I will forever feel guilty when leaving my son for any amount of time. Even when I know I am doing the right thing by going to work to make money to support us, I still feel guilty.
I learned that choosing your battles really is good advice. Though I do not let much go, and I would probably be considered a strict mom, there is something to be said about letting certain things go.
I have learned that being shot with pretend spider webs is just part of my day (Elijah is obsessed with Spider Man). I have learned that knees in pants are way overrated. I have given up that fight for this season – just waiting for shorts!

I have learned that the little things that we do really mean a lot to my son. Every night before bed, we sing "You Are My Sunshine" together. One night I forgot, and I heard him in there crying. I went in and asked what was wrong, and he said "You forgot my song." We sang it twice that night.

I have learned that no parent is perfect, and we all make mistakes. I think the main thing is admitting when you were wrong to your children. I have told Elijah "I am sorry" before and that I made a mistake. He said, "Tomorrow is another day, Mommy!"
That is what I say to him when he has a bad day. I think our kids understand that we make mistakes and that saying sorry is 100 percent necessary.
Got to go. Taking the little man to see a movie tonight!
