Obituary: Thomas R. "Tom" Fitzpatrick

Tom spent 36 years teaching mathematics at Wauwatosa West High school and also taught part-time at Marquette University and Mount Mary College.

June 3, 1944 - March 29, 2013

Fitzpatrick, Thomas R. "Fitz" of Wauwatosa. Born to Eternal Life, Friday, March 29, 2013, age 68 years. Beloved husband of Judith (nee Podboy). Dear father of Colleen (Larry) Poggenburg, Sean (Katy), Kevin and Brian (Danielle). Loving grandfather of Kobe, Eddie, Summer and Finley. Loving brother of Gail (Jerry) Mullins. Dear uncle of Brian Mullins, Patsy Saunders and Travis Goad; Mike, Tim, Megan and John Podby.   Brother-in law of Ed Podboy (Mary) and son-in-law of Alice Podboy. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Georgiana Fitzpatrick; his brother, Jerome Smith; and his sister, Sis Goad.

Tom spent 36 years teaching mathematics at Wauwatosa West High school. He also taught part-time at Marquette University and Mount Mary College. He will be remembered for many things including the years of playing and coaching basketball which led to becoming the head coach at Tosa West. Tom was a fisherman who believed in catch and release. He was an avid golfer and took in everything the game had to offer. In retirement, he became an orchid grower and joined the Wisconsin Orchid Society. He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and students who loved his constant wit and humor.

Visitation Thursday, April 4, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a Time of Remembrance at 7:30pm at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 5 at 10:00am at St. Bernard’s Church, 1500 Wauwatosa Avenue, Wauwatosa. Private entombment Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.
