Brookfield Couple Threatened with Gun at Mayfair

Angry words in parking lot led to display of weapon.

A Brookfield couple called police Wednesday after a man threatened them with a gun in the parking lot at Mayfair Mall, according to a police report.

The couple said they had just arrived at the mall shortly before 2 p.m. and had parked in the west parking lot. They were at the open trunk of their car retrieving a laptop computer when a man they thought to be in his late teens intentionally startled them by making a loud noise right behind them.

After the husband and the stranger exchanged angry words, they said, the teenager, having walked about six or seven parking spots away, turned and pulled out a silver revolver and said, “Do you want to die?” and “Do you want me to kill your wife?”
