Both were hit in the head and fell to the ground. The attackers demanded money from the male victim, and when he told them he had none, they began kicking and punching him where he lay. They searched him and stole his wallet, which he thought had $6 cash in it.

The woman said she was not searched and nothing was demanded of her, but she told the assailants her companion had no money and to stop hitting him. She heard one of them say, β€œI got it” when they located the wallet, and saw them run east on Jackson Park Boulevard before turning south.

The man suffered severe cuts and swelling, the woman a large bump on her forehead. Both were taken to Froedtert Hospital for treatment.

Neither of the victims got a good look at their attackers and they could not provide any description other than to say that they were sure they were three men. Police searched the area on foot and in squad cars but could not find the attackers.
