DNA Match Cracks 2009 Burglary Investigation

Milwaukee man is charged after his DNA was found on a piece of glove left after a burglary at a Wauwatosa home.

A 22-year-old Milwaukee man is facing burglary charges after a piece of vinyl glove left at a Wauwatosa home invasion reveals his DNA at the scene in 2009.

Charged with one count of burglary, Keith Culberson faces up to 12.5 years in prison and $25,000 in fines if convicted. Culberson had his initial appearance in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Tuesday.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Sept. 21, 2009, Culberson broke into a home in the 10600 block of West Grantosa Drive and stole electronics and a bottle of cologne.

A door window was broken in order for Culberson to get into the house and police found a piece of vinyl glove at the scene, which later tested positive for Culberson’s DNA.

Culberson's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 25. A signature bond was set at $500 Tuesday.
