Employee Charged with Sex Assault at Gas Station

Girl tells police Milwaukee man touched her inappropriately out of view of security cameras.

A 20-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault for having unwanted contact with a minor girl at the Tosa gas station where he was working.

Barett Owen Powell was charged July 2 in Milwaukee County Circuit Court and could face up to nine months in jail and up to a $10,000 fine for inappropriately touching the girl.

According to the criminal complaint, on June 28, Powell was working at Tosa Mobil Mart, 8806 W. North Ave., and a juvenile girl was at the station.

The girl reported to police that Powell led her to a part of the station that was not covered by surveillance cameras and there, she said, he pushed his genitals against her thigh without her consent.

Powell made his initial appearance in court last Wednesday and pleaded not guilty. He is free on $250 bail and is scheduled to appear next in court for a pre-trial hearing July 22.
