As they left, one of the suspects pushed on the left of the double doors, which was locked. Instead of trying the right-hand door, he took aim at the door with his pistol and pulled the trigger.

Two witnesses saw it and distinctly heard a loud click. The gun didn't go off. The second of the robbers pushed past and out the right-hand door, and his accomplice followed.

Video footage showed the two suspects fleeing in a 2007 Acura that had been parked just outside the doors. It would prove to have been reported stolen about two weeks previously in Waukegan, Ill., according to Wauwatosa police.

Two hours later, Milwaukee police contacted the Wauwatosa Police Department to say that they had found the car – burned to a crisp in a field on the city's northwest side, just off of North 99th St.

According to police reports, it was difficult to find a vehicle identification number that was readable on the hulk. A lighter was found on the ground just below the open gas tank door.

Mount Pleasant/Racine

In Racine County, first the Landmark Credit Union in Mount Pleasant on Washington Avenue was robbed by two men wearing masks. One displayed a silver handgun and after getting an undisclosed amount of cash, fled on foot.

The building is located near the corner of Emmertsen Road and Washington Avenue just down the street from Westridge Elementary. At the time of the robbery, school was being dismissed so police investigators are hoping adults in the area may have seen something that will lead them to the suspects.

The next day, though, , was also robbed at gunpoint. Instead of two perpetrators, this robbery was pulled off by a single suspect displaying a handgun.

Two weeks later, the same branch was robbed again, this time by three suspects, according to a press release from the Racine Police Department. The statement does not indicate whether or not a weapon was displayed during this incident.
