Guilty Plea Entered in St. Camillus Bomb Scare

The Milwaukee man charged with calling in bomb threats to a Wauwatosa assisted living will now await his sentencing.

A Milwaukee man charged with calling in bomb threats to a Wauwatosa assisted living center entered a guilty plea in court Tuesday, according to court records.

Demetrius D. Lowe originally pleaded not guilty by reason of mental illness or defect to making bomb threats Feb. 21 at St. Camillus nursing care wing at 10100 Blue Mound Rd.

A psychiatrist's report found no basis for the mental illness defense, and Lowe's attorney withdrew the plea, saying Lowe understood and agreed with the finding.

With that defense rejected, Lowe was prepared to enter a guilty plea on May 8, when the judge ordered a competency hearing. The court later found Lowe competent to proceed, according to online court records.

Lowe was implicated almost immediately in making numerous early morning bomb scare calls to St. Camillus, where his ex-girlfriend worked in food service. His repeated calls to several staffers, referred to her and how he wanted her to get in trouble and be fired because of what he was doing.

The bomb scare calls caused an entire four-floor building filled with hundreds of staff members and infirm or incapacitated residents to have to be evacuated.

Lowe will be sentenced on Sept. 9. He could face up to three years and six months imprisonment.
