Hartford Felon Caught in Tosa With Loaded Gun

Suspect, convicted of an earlier felony, was out on bail while facing charges of rape and kidnapping.

A 31-year-old Hartford man out on bail for suspicion of rape and kidnapping is facing new charges after police officers found a gun under his seat while he was riding as a passenger in a car in Wauwatosa.

Ricky Ronald Strobel II was charged Saturday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of felony bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to 16 years in prison and $35,000 in fines.

On June 12, Strobel was a passenger in a car pulled over by in the 9800 block of Capitol Drive. When the driver allowed officers to search the car. Police found a loaded .38-cal. handgun under the driver’s seat.

The driver told officers the gun belonged to Strobel and that he saw him hide it under the seat as the car was being pulled over.

According to online court records, Strobel was currently out on bail on a Washington County case in which he was charged in March with one count of attempted first-degree sexual assault, one count of false imprisonment, one count of battery and one count of second-degree reckless endangerment of safety. He was convicted of felony theft in 2002.

He’s currently being held in Milwaukee County Jail on $5,000 bail.
