On Dec. 3, a worker at Speedway, 6804 W. North Ave., saw Ward enter the store on three separate occasions and leave without paying for anything. The worker became suspicious of the activity and discovered he had stolen four large boxes of candy bars.
On Dec. 13, Ward came back and stole more candy bars from the gas station. He came back again Wednesday, but the worker recognized him from the previous thefts and called police.

Ward immediately admitted to the thefts when police arrived, saying he would steal the candy bars, then take them to another gas station where “Arabs” would pay him cash for the merchandise.
He then told police “I can’t believe I’m going to jail for some candy bars,” and then followed with “I’m never working for those Arabs again.”
