Jen Sebena's Mom Gives Tosa Police a Memory

"Jenny Bears" will be a reminder of the warmth and spirit of a beloved colleague.

It isn't as though anyone at the Wauwatosa Police Department could forget Jennifer Sebena.

Known for her bubbling spirit and hearty sense of humor, she was a young woman made to stick in anyone's memory.

But now each member of the department has a little something more, a tangible reminder of their sister in blue.

Jen's mother, Violet Gerhat, brought in lunch for the whole department on Monday, complete with luscious-looking brownies for dessert, and made sure that everyone, from the most grizzled veteran patrol officer to the clerks, left with a teddy bear.

"Jen really loved teddy bears," said Officer Don Semega. "So her mother thought it would be nice if we each had one to remember her by."

Some "Jenny Bears" may go home with their new owners, some may perch above the desks of ranking officers, some may peek out of duty lockers.

But don't be too surprised if you should happen to notice a few squad cars carrying a tiny, fuzzy passenger. Now, no officer needs to patrol alone. They each have a partner.

Price, yer killin me. Every story is superbly crafted. This could have been a silly little fluff piece, but it's understated and lovely and touching.

As a Father of a Police Officer, I know that I can't be there with him 24/7. I rely on my Faith in God's Guardian Angels to wrap my Son (and his colleagues) in their protective wings. This thoughtful gesture by Officer Sebena's Mother is a wonderful way to not only pay tribute to her daughter, but to remind every PO that they are not alone...

Officer Sebena's moms generosity, compassion, and breaking bread during this Lenten season is symbolic. In our own way we're all celebrating the mystery of our Lord's dying and rising and this may be her way, too. I applaud Mrs. Gerhat for her strength, her bravery and her willingness to forgive, love and to serve others. Peace be with all mankind~

I dislike so much sarcasm in one post. Why not just come out and say something directly?

Steve, I have friends and co-workers whose political leanings vary from far right to far left andRead More everything in between. I certainly wouldn't make decisions "on their future" simply based on whether or not they signed a petition. I value the input I receive from my exposure to their varying viewpoints. It seems awfully petty and shortsighted to base so many decisions on one factor. When I hire an employee, political opinions are not important to me - credentials, experience, work ethic, that's what I look for; I am interested in hiring a competent person, not someone who simply shares my political leanings. You frequently tout yourself as a "producer" - of what, I don't know. Since you so strongly support the idea of making decisions on the litmus test of whether or not someone supports or opposes Governor Walker, I suggest that you let everyone know the name of your company and what you produce. That way, people who share your ideals can support your business and those that don't can make an educated decision as to whether or not they want to work with you.

One battle lost is not the end of the war. Walker has proven to be the biggest loser that this stateRead More has ever seen. We are almost last in every catagory and if your married with daughters all your thier rights have been taken away by your God. Remember when you and Walker take your place in hell the dead will some day walk the earth again.
