McDonald's Manager Supplies Tosa Employee With Bail Money

After getting pulled over for expired registration, this McDonald's employee from Wauwatosa went to his manager for bail money to cover a warrant he had through Brown Deer police.

After a run-in with Bayside police, a McDonald's employee from Wauwatosa got a "Get Out of Jail Free" card from his manager.

Just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, a Bayside officer was stopped at a traffic light at Port Washington and Brown Deer roads and ran the license plate of the car in front of him. The registration had expired in August, the police report said.

When the light turned green, the car drove off and into the McDonald’s parking lot, 8739 N. Port Washington Rd. The officer pulled the car over and when he spoke to the driver, the man said the car belonged to his girlfriend’s grandmother.

But the 24-year-old Wauwatosa man was not only driving a car with an expired registration – whomever it might belong to – it was also true that his license had expired in 2011 and he had an arrest warrant through the Brown Deer Police Department.

He was arrested for the outstanding warrant, according to the report. Before leaving the parking lot, the man told police he worked at the McDonald’s restaurant and could make arrangements to have his bail posted. The McDonald’s manager did provide him with $328 for bail.

The Wauwatosa man was taken to the station, booked, cited for operating without a valid driver's license and issued a 15-day correction notice for having an unregistered vehicle, according to the report.

Bond was posted using the money he obtained from his boss, and he was dropped back off at McDonald’s, the report said.
