Tenant Charged with Burglarizing Tosa Landlord's Apartment

Suspect in apartment break-in is discovered after he left a thumbprint on a rent check in the apartment.

A 26-year-old Milwaukee man is facing charges after he allegedly broke into his Wauwatosa landlord’s apartment and stole about $200 cash.

Reymon Dajuan Davis was charged Friday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court  with one count of burglary. If convicted, he could face up to 12½ years in prison and $25,000 in fines.

On Oct. 31, the victim came home to his apartment in the 11900 block of West North Avenue and discovered someone had broken in and stolen nearly $200. He said he had $38 in singles that went missing along with two cups of change that each held about $80.

Before he had left the apartment earlier that day, he told , another tenant had slipped a rent check under the door in a sealed envelope. Besides the missing cash, the landlord found that envelope had been opened, although the check was still there.

Police found Davis’ thumbprint on the check.

Davis is currently being held in County Jail while awaiting trial.
