Ill-Advised U-Turn Leads to Arrest of 3 Heroin Addicts

Wauwatosa police arrested three subjects from nearby communities last Saturday on a host of drug-related counts.

At 3:09 p.m., three subjects — a 25-year-old West Allis man and a 25-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man from Menomonee Falls — were stopped by police in the 11200 block of West Burleigh Street in Wauwatosa. The driver had made a sudden, high-speed U-turn in the middle of North Mayfair Road, cutting off a police community service officer in her van.

The two men were jittery and glassy-eyed, officers said, and exhibited other signs typical of intravenous drug use. The Menomonee Falls man had a syringe in his shirt pocket, and another recently used syringe was found under a seat. A variety of prescription narcotics and other pills was found, along with “cooking caps” and other paraphernalia. All three later admitted in statements that they were heroin addicts.

The West Allis man was found to have a felony warrant from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department for possession and delivery of narcotics. He was arrested on four more drug counts plus obstructing an officer for having given a false name. The Menomonee Falls woman was arrested on four drug violations and was already on probation for an earlier drug conviction; the Falls man was given only a count of possession of paraphernalia, but he too was sent to jail on a drug warrant from Oneida County.
