4-Year-Old Injured in Accident at Eisenhower School

Girl was "conscious and doing fine" at scene, school district spokesman says.

A 4-year-old girl was struck by a car shortly before 8 this morning in front of Eisenhower Elementary School and was taken to Children's Hospital, school district and Wauwatosa Fire Department spokesmen said.

The girl is a junior kindergarten student who goes to Madison Elementary School and was at Eisenhower during a dropoff of an older sibling there, said district spokesman Chris Preisler.

"I'm told she was conscious and doing fine," Preisler said.

Deputy Fire Chief Jim Case said that based on the reports he was getting that support units had left the scene by about 8:15, he assumed that the patient's injuries were not life-threatening. He confirmed that the accident occurred at North 116th and West Center streets, where Eisenhower is located.

Neither Case nor Preisler could give any details on how the accident happened. Patch will update the story as more information becomes available.
