Police Confirm 2 Armed Robberies in Past 2 Days

One robber apparently hits a business, another most likely a person on the street.

Details are sketchy at best, but Wauwatosa police confirmed Tuesday that two armed robberies had been reported this week, one Sunday and one Monday.

Call log reports, which contain little information beyond the type of crime, the time, and the location, showed there was an armed robbery at 12:41 p.m. Monday at 11500 W. North Ave., which is the address of an Open Pantry store.

Another call log report shows an armed robbery occurring at 5:54 a.m. Sunday at 76th Street and Wisconsin Avenue.

Full reports on either crime were not available to Wauwatosa Patch on Tuesday, but details will be provided as they are released.

Reports on Monday's robbery at 115th Street and North Avenue, likely at the Open Pantry, were restricted from release "as details in it would jeopardize the on-going investigation," said Wauwatosa Police Capt. Jeff Sutter.

Sunday's robbery report, at 76th and Wisconsin, has been released but could not be processed Tuesday under new open records rules imposed because of a lawsuit citing the Driver's Privacy Protection Act, which requires redaction of personally identifying information in all police reports.

The Sunday robbery would appear to be of the "personal encounter" variety, possibly at a bus stop, as there are no businesses near that location.
